Fresh Prince at River Island

Basically, i was invited to come back to River Island Head Office and do another week of work experience with the lovely ladies on womenswear design. i was paired up a saucy little minx who designs shorts, trousers and jumpsuits.

There are the Fresh Prince/Afro 80's/Aztec/Tribal inspired items which i created during the week.

i then got my hands on some sexy coloured spray paint, and boy i was hiigghhh, for real my head was hurting after a while.

Anywayyyy....

This pair of shorts are the trial ones  and i just played around with a black marker and had a look what i could do.

I then took this and applied it to shoes and a bandana/scarf

To conclude it, the creative director LOVED the pieces and she now has possession of these BEAUTIFUL GARMS so you bitches look out in Spring/Summer 2012.

Smoke Face

OMG! these images had me on the edge! i had borrowed a smoke machine and was in the my colleges dark room, but there was a fire alarm in there, and i was sooooo scared that the smoke was going to set off the alarm. but anywayy... carrying with the idea of a submerging face i decided to try the same thing but with smoke! and here they are!

Submerging Faces

With these images, i filled the bath tub with 8 pints of milk and the rest with water, i had almost drowned justin with this lil experiment but the out comes are amazing! i really like the face submerging from the misty water, love it!

Slow Shutter Speed Distortion

i took these images with a slow shutter speed to create and ghostly, erie look to them. At the same time i put a pair of fishnet tights over his head.

What do you guys think!?

String Distortion

This time, i initially wanted to use rubber bands but didn't have any around so i used string and just wrapped it round justin's head tightly, and again these are the outcomes.

Icing Sugar Distortion

So carrying on with my Photography project, i tried another way of distorting the face. this time i made a huge bowl of icing sugar and put it on justin's face. it had eventually dried and cracked as he move his skin and these are the results of the little shoot i had.

Distortion - Photoshop

With these i used Photoshop to enlarge certain features of the face and place them back in the 'correct' areas. They have created another way to distort the face.

Underwater Distortion

These are images i took from my new project on Exploration and Discovery, the inspiration from this has come from first looking at found faces in the world around as and then from looking at the work of Francis Bacon and how he used his brush strokes to distort. i feel i have created the same effect.

Jewellery Pt. 2 inspired by iUNDEReye

For my Fashion Project this year i decided i would do something different and do knit. i have got my designs for my garment. but then i thought 'why not make accessories', so thats what i have been doing.

i wanted to do something with necklace and knit and i started off with these tools.

• A Spool
• Crotchet Needle
• A Needle
• Yarn
• Scissors

The method is called French Knitting and it took me  FOREVER to get used to but i got there in the end and i first made a long 'rope'.

Tried it on and it looked a tad dead and boring!

A KNIT CHAIN!!!!!!!! looks so much cooler than a boring single chain. so thats when i created this...

Its not quite finished but i thought id show you what i have done so far.

im thinking from this i can do a lot more, i am thinking of adding actual rope chain into these designs somewhere!

Animal's on MDF

 For my Design Technology Project, i have been given the brief of Nature and blah blah blah. For my final piece i am making a Knitted Over Sized T-Shirt, so i though i would make some accessories to go with it. These experimental cut outs are what i may use as a necklace pendante to go with my outfit.This is just one of 3 ideas that i have. Once i have some sort of prototype of the others ill show, im desperate to hear what you guys think! so anyway, these ones will in the end be made of MDF, i think thats the material, and it will hang from a gold chain! i think they look pretty neat!

My Time at River Island

I have loved working at River this week and it has just made my goal of becoming a retail designer more stronger than ever. Being in such a nice creative environment was really refreshing and i was  so comfortable. These were the fabric boards i made for the dresses department along with some designs. (below)

'Justin'

After harsh criticism and being what i called 'Creatively Bruised' this week i think i have produced something that i think will really impress and reboost my confidence in creativity.

I currently have a theme of Identity, and i must be honest i was no way inspired by this theme. but after taking these pictures im feeling confident.
